Women's Resource Center

Woman's Resource Center

The Women's Resource Center was founded in the 1970's by a group of women from Central Baptist church in Wayne, PA.

  • Their goal is simple to educate, support, provide counseling, provide housing and advocacy to end domestic and sexual violence.
  • Most people know it as the big yellow house on the old hospital grounds, but they have expanded.
  • Those whom are housed in the emergency housing pay their own "rent." As their "rent" they have simple household chores. Similar to what a parent might give a teen.
  • Together in that house they heal and try to move on from their experiences.
  • It's also kid friendly! There is a toy room set up in the front of the yellow house and in the backyard there is a play structure.

Women's Resource Center does different things to raise money.

  • A store is set up which is a resale store.
  • It's like a Goodwill. You drop off your gently used items to the store for a tax deductible. In turn you are helping families in need and getting money back.
  • The store is located right next to pizza hut on US31.

How the Women's Resource Center can help you!

  • Womans Resource Center is there when you need them most.
  • They are a shelter for the woman who need help freeing their life from a abusive relationship.
  • WRC houses men, women, and children. The men and women have different houses since a lot of the time they may fear each other.
  • Here lays a great volunteer opportunity for you.
  • Or you can stop by the store to donate money for the shelter.

Some of the specific tasks performed by volunteers include:

  • Answering the telephone
  • Performing clerical tasks
  • Assisting with creative activities for children staying at Safe Home
  • Preparing bulk mailings
  • Assisting with various housekeeping tasks and assisting with maintenance and repair projects
